What engines and drivetrains come with the new Cherokee
Drivers have a choice between three engines for the 2021 Jeep Cherokee. The standard engine is a 2.4-Liter Inline-4 cylinder engine that kicks out 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque while keeping the MPG at an average of 26. Next up is a 3.6L V6 that comes under the hood of the Latitude LUX, Limited, and Trailhawk. The V6 option kicks out 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque while averaging 24 MPG. Finally, a 2.0L turbocharged I4 is available and provides drivers with 270 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque, and 26 MPG. All Cherokee engines are mated to a sturdy 9-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. Of course, the Cherokee is available with Jeep’s legendary four-wheel-drive capability. Jeep’s Active Drive 4×4 systems are available for the Cherokee, and Selec-Terrain Traction Management is standard on all 4×4 models. Active Drive Lock is standard on the mighty Trailhawk trim with a rear locking axle and Rock mode on the Selec-Terrain dial for superior off-road control.
